Thankful God does not grade on a curve...
“Growing in the gospel means seeing more of God’s holiness and more of my sin. And because of what Jesus has done for us on the cross, we need not fear seeing God as he really is or admitting how broken we really are. Our hope is not in our own goodness, nor in the vain expectation that God will compromise his standards and ‘grade on a curve.’ Rather, we rest in Jesus as our perfect Redeemer — the One who is ‘our righteousness, holiness and redemption’ (1 Cor. 1:30).”The Gospel-Centered Life by Bob Thune and Will Walker
"Brothers, think of what you were when you were called.
Not many of you were wise by human standards;
not many were influential;
not many were of noble birth.
But God chose the foolish things of the world to shame the wise;
God chose the weak things of the world to shame the strong.
He chose the lowly things of this world and the despised things
— and the things that are not — to nullify the things that are,
so that no one may boast before him.
It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus,
who has become for us wisdom from God —
that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption.
Therefore, as it is written:
"Let him who boasts boast in the Lord."
1 Cor 1:26-31 (NIV)

Whew! I am so glad my hope is not in my own goodness!
This is good, thank you Georgene! I hope you are doing well!
And, friend, your top of page is just portraying my very favorite season! Just beautiful!! I appreciate the verse you shared with all of us! ~Blessings
Thank you for that BEAUTIFUL reminder!
It is so easy to let the truth slip--thank you for the reminder.
ryc--I have met E. Elliot twice also! I spent the afternoon with her once--I was 23 and she asked "How I liked living with my mother after being on my own for 5 years (long story). I stated "It was Ok but that she acted like "my Mother". She turned immediately and said "She is your mother how else is she supposed to act?"
It was one of the first times my logic had been challenged--I am so thankful for all her wisdom. It is because of her passion for the concepts and principles of Titus 2 that these principles were impressed upon me. I am thankful for her faithfulness to the Lord in promoting Biblical womanhood. The second time I approached her to thank her for seeking to grow women in Christ (at one time I was sure I did not want children and wasn't sure I wanted to submit to a man). I too broke down crying:)
Hope all is well.
Hope all is well.
@sixAs - Oh, I can just hear the tone of her voice when she said that to you. I love her boldness! I need more of it!
All is well... not with the world I live in... but because of Whom I belong to!
And you?
I never fail to appreciate the powerful words & verses you share. Verses like these really help to put things in perspective once again... it's so easy to forget just how amazing it is what He has done for us.
