  • Trusting God to meet our needs!

Our business financial situation, humanly speaking, is a bit shaky. We operate a trucking company…well, need I say more?????    The cost of fuel and insurance is putting many small business owners under. Talk around our home these days consists a lot of seeking God’s wisdom in handling our finances but also more and more talk about what we may need to do if things don’t start changing in the next few months.

As always the Lord teaches His children in the midst of difficulty. This trial is no different. Just this week I was given a beautiful example of trusting God in the middle of adversity.

One of our church members found her daughter in law had died in her sleep this past week. Their family lives with our dear Sister so this was especially hard on her. There was no warning. She went to bed the night before and didn’t wake up the next morning.

I arrived at the home while the police and coroner were still there doing their investigation. There was a lot of grieving, sorrow and crying as you can imagine. She left behind 3 children and a husband. The two older children were trying to deal with the situation the best they knew how.  But, in the midst of all the crying and grieving there was this precious little 3 year old just playing with his cars and going about his life as he had every other day. He wasn’t worried or fearful. He was in a place of security and trust knowing he was safe.  I thought to myself what a blessing it was that he was so young and unaware how his life would be forever changed by this one day.

This ‘word picture’ of a child’s complete trust continued to minister to me over this past week. I thought of the Scripture that exhorts us to like children in regards to faith.

But when Jesus saw this, He was indignant and said to them, “Permit the children to come to Me; do not hinder them; for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. “Truly I say to you, whoever does not receive the kingdom of God like a child shall not enter it. Mark 10:14-15

I desire to display this same heart attitude towards the financial situation we are now facing. I have a heavenly Father who KNOWS and sees all that is involved in my situation. He has promised to never leave me. He has promised to feed and clothe me. This is a promise He has always kept. He has promised to work ALL things together for my good and His glory. I have a choice to make each day. Will I believe that His Words are true and live my life as a child who has a loving heavenly Father who is caring for her? Will I leave the working out of tomorrow in His hands? Or will I fret and worry and seek after meeting my own needs just as the unbelievers do who do not know a heavenly Father? Mt. 6:19-34

It’s a decision I must make daily… sometimes minute by minute!

”Do not be anxious then, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘With what shall we clothe ourselves?’ For all these things the Gentiles eagerly seek; for your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. Matthew 6:31-32

  • I have enjoyed relying upon God’s sovereign and constant watchcare over us this week–while recovering from gall bladder surgery that caused us to miss a trip to visit my son and daughter in law and granddaughter who are in Sweden, my back went out and our house cause fire from being struck by lightening… God has protected me from my own plans and saved my house in one week with a little ole’ gall bladder–I stand amazed by His awesome love for me…

  • I’ll be praying for your friend’s family

  • moment by moment trust- amen! praying for the family of the mommy….thanks for the good reminder about trusting- huggles me

  • Oh, you know it’s all good when God is involved. It can be hard to stay in that place of peace, but I pray that you will be able to see His plan step by step and have that knowing that He is taking care of it all. I pray for that family that they will be comforted.

  • Oh, Georgene, this post was amazing…What a beautiful visual the Lord provided you through that small child…And you have provided me with a great visual by your retelling of this…Lifting up this family and your family tonight…With much love, Paula

  • i am so encouraged.

    thank you. =]

  • I loved your visual of the trust of a child.

Since you asked a question that others may be thinking, I am going to post my response on my site.

  • Worrying is something that I struggle with, and I find myself giving the same thing to God again and again. Thank you reminding me of God’s promises. RYC about the Amish, I put my response in my comments, in case others have the same question.

  • What wonderful thoughts. I can sympathize with your friends grieving family and understand the “baby’s” trust. I had the same shock 10 years ago when I discovered my late husband had died in his sleep. It’s one of the most devastating things I’ve ever had to go through. If I had not had a deep faith in God to see me through there is no way I could have made it. I can also sympathize with you and your business financial situtation. There were plenty of times our situtation was touch and go, with the Lord providing according to His promises. He still provides for my needs and a few of my “wants.”

RYC: Our soil here is heavy clay. I’ve used a lot of compost to work the beds. Its taken me 5 years to get the soil workable and I continue to work more compost into the beds every time I plant something else.

Have a blessed week & God keep you safe, healthy & happy.  HUGS

  • RYC:  Oh, yes, it and HINDS FEET are two of my favorites!  I didn’t realize until recently that there is a bible study available to go with STEPPING HEAVENWARD.  Have a wonderful day, sweet sister in Christ!  With much love and many prayers, Paula

  • Sure hope and pray that your friend can feel God’s added love and strength. And I pray that you also have added strength as you move in to support your sister in Christ.

I hear you…..about God supplying our needs. I would just like to say that “God is faithful!”

    God bless ~E

  • Just surfing Xanga and I came here..  Prayers for this family.

  • RYC: I’ve used the cheapest kind that I could find and that happened to be at Lowe’s. The top soil I used was bought at a garden center for about 35 dollars a cubic yard, but we had to use our truck to haul it with. I do use the bagged topsoil to fill in small spots or make a small flower bed. It’s to expensive to use it if you are doing a large spot. My problem with using topsoil is I don’t have a truck big enough to haul a yard and couldn’t use 4 yards so they would haul it.

Have a blessed week & God keep you safe, healthy & happy. HUGS

  • Beautiful visual. I hope you are feeling better. I miss you.

  • Faith as a little child, how we all need to pray this.  Thank you so much for sharing the lesson learned.  I pray that God will continue to bless you with the knowledge that He is always there and He will meet your every need.

  • My prayers to the family…
    Mary
