Fear, Anxiety and Worry
I’m hoping, if the Lord wills it, to add some pages to our other website on the Lord’s remedy for worry and anxiety. I’ve spent most of the morning studying the theme of how KNOWING GOD brings peace. (2 Peter 1:2)Peace is the opposite of worry, anxiety and fear. We all have so many opportunities to worry or be anxious each and every day, don’t we? Our flesh and the enemy of our souls tempt us to worry about our health, our husband’s health, our children, our grandchildren, our marriages, our finances, our unsaved loved ones!
Yet, God’s Word says DO NOT BE ANXIOUS for ANYTHING! God says we may NOT WORRY about our children (their health, their future, their salvation)… we may not worry about OUR health or our loved ones health…. we may not worry about our finances… we may not worry about the cost of living increase… we may not worry about our husbands losing their jobs or bills not being able to be paid… and we may NOT WORRY about our marriages! There is absolutely NOTHING in Scripture that we are allowed to worry about!
Instead we are commanded to pray with thanksgiving and to cast our cares on to the Lord.
1 Pet 5:7 – casting all your anxiety upon Him, because He cares for you.
Phil 4:6 – Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.
The name the Lord chooses to describe Himself in Psalms 55:22 is Jehovah… the Self-Existing or Eternal One! He is the God who needs nothing to sustain Him, who never had a beginning nor an end, who is the same yesterday, today, and forever and who all of life is sustained in Him. He gives us our next breath.. and our next and our next. This is a God we can surely trust to wisely order our affairs and those of our families.
Ps 55:22- Cast your burden upon the LORD (Jehovah), and He will sustain you; He will never allow the righteous to be shaken.
The name JEHOVAH (The Self-Existing One) can become our refuge in times of temptation to fear and worry about the future. Everything can be cast (quickly hurled) in fatherly confidence to a God who cares so deeply for us!
Prov 18:10 – The name of the LORD is a strong tower; the righteous run to it and are safe.

Good post!
Wonder WHY we are so tempted to worry? It makes me wonder if we’re deceived by the evil one to interpret the feeling for the need to pray into worry? It seems when we take something that is supposed to be for God’s glory and don’t use it the right way, it’s all the worse. I’m not sure I’m saying what I’m trying to say…….. =)
God bless ~E
Your post blessed me greatly! I love KAy Arthur studies…Oh, how encouraging HIS WORD is! Thanks, sweet sister, for providing us with so many specific Scriptures…Have a blessed weekend, dear friend…With much love and many prayers, Paula
I appreciate your site thank you for sharing. Have a nice weekend.
Thank you for the reminder of what the name Jehovah means. I think it is a little extra comfort to realize what the names of God mean and how they tell of His character.
Proverbs 18:10 is a favorite verse of mine. Great post.
RYC- The book is Diabetes 2 for Beginners”. I had fruit for breakfast, but not 1/2 the plate. I do have starch at every meal, but a small portion. 1/4 the plate isn’t very much. I’m combining this idea with what I alread know about portions and counting carbs. I’m basically using it to motivate me to eat more vegs. that is my problem area. I’m realizing I eat too much dairy. I got the book from my library, it is published by ADA. You don’t use it for snacks because you are usually just having one thing. I’m going to have my fruit for my snack to keep my BG#’s down at breakfast. Fruit and starch together raises my #’s too much.
Thank you for this post. I have come against a brick wall already with worry but have found the power of the Spirit will sometimes completely take it away. Such a miracle-worker! I love that scripture about God being a strong tower where we find refuge. Very comforting post.
Thanks so much for this post. I really needed that this morning. In our humaness, we forget that He has no limitations, and that He has planned our path to bring out the best in us all.
Blessings,
Gayle
Amen! He is my Rock, my Comforter, my Soft Place when life gets hard, and my Dry Place when the storms come. Praise His name!

RYC: Yes, thank you, I am breathing a sigh of relief that I have seen another tax season come and go…Well, at least, the first part! Extensions are yet to come! I pray you are doing well…In, because of, and through His amazing love, paula
Phillipians 4: 4 says Rejoice in the Lord always and again I say rejoice….then in vs. 5 it says to let your gentleness be know to all men….then it says is vs. 6 to be anxious for nothing but by prayer and supplication….let your requests be made know unto God….seems like a progression of things….In Isaiah it says HE WHO’S MIND IS STAYED ON ME….I SHALL KEEP IN PERFECT PEACE…..
I think the whole idea is trust….keeping your mind on the Lord….and not worrying so much about the problem or even the answer….but know that God is enough….and that will give you peace….
Last year, I was in a problem, and it was financial…..and the Lord said to me….If you never see another provision, Am I enough for you….well it took about a half a second to say….well Yes you are….and then a real peace came upon me, and I said, Yes Lord, even if I sit on the street corner all alone….and you never give me another physical provision….yes you are enough….well it wasn’t long after that…..and the problem was solved…..but he had to bring me to that point, that I trusted him, totally with my very being….and I still had a peace, and I still had a joy….and all I could do was rejoice….
Well anyway, I don’t know why I got into all that….just enjoyed reading your post, and it reminded me of that….thanks for stopping by my site…glad you came….please come again….Irene
Thank you for this.
Thank you for your encouraging entry.
RYC, I will look for that CD you mentioned. I do love the old hymns!
