  • Home Business: What I Learned!

I hope everyone had a lovely day with your families for Easter! We celebrated yesterday so that my daughter-in-love could be with her family today. We had a wonderful day! My husband and I had bought the grandchildren kites along with other fun stuff and goodies! They had a blast flying the kites in the front part of the pasture. I was amazed how high they could fly. It was a relaxing (once the dinner and dishes were done) day. The grandchildren had fun digging for worms, eating candy, riding their bikes, hunting for eggs, eating candy,  feeding the ducks and chickens, climbing dirt piles in the back of the acreage,  and did I mention eating candy???? … oh, it makes me tired when I think of how much energy they have! LOL!! It was a blessed day! And of course, Grammy told the Easter story on her flannel graph board!

I’ve been working on an article in my head for nearly 5 years that I finally put on paper this last week. It’s posted on my website. It’s not your normal ‘blog’ so I thought I would just give you the website address and let you decide if you want to read it or not.

On the top of this page you will find a heading to the right that says Visit our website: A WOMAN THAT FEARS THE LORD. Just click on that title and it should take you right to the website. Scroll down to Keepers at Home and then click on HOME BUSINESS: What I learned.

Blessings to all as you serve the Risen Savior! He has risen INDEED (as my Pastor says!).

  • Thanks for visiting our site; we are always glad to meet another xanga friend. Sorry about that subscribing to our site is difficult, other people have told us that they have problems too. I do not know what the problem is.  As far as the orphan girl. There are other workers there, and I think I will be going back – I just don’t know when.  Blessings!  Kathleen

  • I read your “Home Business: What I learned.”  You hit the nail on the head!  Ouch! I didn’t have a business, but I did have a career, worked in several areas of the church, was busy, busy, busy.  Before I knew it, my children were all grown up, and I didn’t have enough “family” memories.  But did I learn?  Oh, no!  When I got older, I got into genealogy.  Maybe it would be more truthful to say I became obsessed with it.  When our son became disabled and had to bring his family to move in with us for several months, I had to pack up all the genealogy to make room for family.  Then I realized how addicted to it I’d become.  I’ll get back into it again, slowly, and will have to pray, pray, pray about how much time I spend on it.  I’ll really have to pace my self and work on it ONLY when Dear One or another family member doesn’t need me.  OR when I should be spending time with God.  Thanks so much for the reminder and your honesty in this area.  God bless your day!

  • great post and so happy your easter was wonderful!

  • I just read what you learned from your home business.  Thanks for sharing. I can truly say the article is full of truth. I too DO NOT THINK home businesses are the ultimate.

I do work for my husband in our construction business and that keeps me much busier that I wish to be.  At this time he and I are most comfortable with me being his secretary rather than hiring someone else.  I enjoy my times when he and I work on bids together… he dictates to me all the typing to be done and we sometimes take breaks and talk about other things in between bids. I can not imagine another woman doing this, or even another man for that matter.  I would miss those times with him.

  • SOunds interesting. Both the day with your family and your post on your website. I’ll comment back once I read it.

  • The day is winding down and I had a  little time to read the post in your website. Oh Georgene. You learned some hard lessons, but don’t be too hard on yourself, because think of the blessings that you have had listening to the gentle Spirit convicting you of your sins and mistakes. If you had pushed blindly on, you would not have the loving family that you have now. Bless you for seeing that and coming to the light. I can say with you, that discontentment is really one of the greatest killers of marriages that I know of and I of all sinners, I am chief. I do not know how many times I have had to confess my stubbornness and discontentment to my husband. But what is so wonderful is the forgiveness and love that he and God are so willing to give me again and again. Thank you for your transparency and honesty. I know you have blessed me today and will bless others as they read your story, too.

  • —So thankful for your article on home businesses! It really helped to clarify some things for me. I teach a few piano students, and from time to time have asked my husband if I can take on some more students. He usually says that I have enough to do with the home-schooling….. I have struggled against that, in my heart, thinking that we could use more money, etc. (The same thought processes that you went through!) You helped to bring my priorities into focus. Thank you for sharing your heart in this area. I’m sure it will help and bless many!

  • I am not too literate in computer abbreviations… please tell my what RYC and DIH mean.  Thanks.

  • Hi Georgene~If you type in godskiddo22 in the xanga search window (on your site) and then go to the next window (to the right) and click on the down arrow and then click on users, you will find it. Thanks for visiting! God bless!

  • you dont know me but i came to your xanga via PushieBabushkie’s. You caught my attention with your interest in Nouthetic Counselling. It interests me too! My wife and I attended a 3-part seminar put on by NANC last fall (www.nanc.org). We learned a lot, and were really blessed.
