  • Let’s Meet by the River…

I was having so much fun looking at the pictures I just uploaded from my camera that I wanted to share them with you. Our church has a yearly baptism at a nearby river. The setting is beautiful! The park has rolling hills that lead down to a peaceful river.  This year we also had an outdoor service and potblessing. I’ve been to a lot of baptism’s in my years of following Christ but I must say I enjoy the river baptisms the most.

Pastor Bettencourt preaching God’s Word with accuracy

and without apology. I’ve been attending this little rural church

for 5 years and I’m thankful that the Word we receive each week is never

weak or compromising but powerfully brought forth with conviction.

It’s definitely worth the 30 minute drive!

Our potblessing! Lots of yummy food. It looks like the church is enjoying it!

I love my church family more and more with each passing year!

After lunch the church walked down to the river for the baptisms.

Pastor Bettencourt is explaining what baptism represents.

“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations,

baptizing them in the name of the Father

and the Son and the Holy Spirit,” Matt. 28:19

  • I love to see people baptized! We don’t have any rivers near us, so we have “created ” a baptismal tank with some PVC pipe and a plastic liner. We have baptized people outside in November! We have a service scheduled for the end of the month and one of the kids from my cell group is getting baptized! Here, it is a VERY big deal, because most people grow up in the State’s religion which baptizes infants. To decide to be baptized as an adult is really a big step for these dear people!

  • I love to see baptisms! Thanks for sharing the pictures.

  • That is so neat, thanks for posting!

  • Very nice pics of a special day, just wondering? why is there a bride in one picture, was she getting baptized in symbolic white attire, or was there a wedding going on at the same time???  Or maybe I’m just seeing things that aren’t as they appear .

  • @DanishDoll - What do you mean by ‘state’s religion’? What does that involve? Can you be put in jail if you go against the state’s religion?

@toeveryseason - I think you may have seen one of our older women who has a long dress on but it’s not a bride’s gown. But, I can see how you thought it was because it looks very full.

  • No. nothing like jail! There are also “free” churches in Denmark, and we are a part of one of them. The state church is Lutheran. Sadly, many of the priests are not even born again. Most Danes consider themselves Christians simply because they were baptized as babies in the Lutheran church. It is this misconception that allows people to live any old way they want and still think they are OK with God.

  • @DanishDoll - That’s is heartbreaking. Sadly, it doesn’t sound too far from the churches in America.

  • Enjoyed hearing about your church. We also dip in water for baptism….except we baptize forward three times – in the Name of the Father, of the Son, and the Holy Ghost. I too appreciate so very much the teaching we receive. Aren’t we so blessed to be taught by those who spend quality time in the Word!
