  • All creation groans…

A few days ago, as I was driving into town, I spotted a fat pigeon in the middle of the road. As I got closer I could see that he was shaking and probably near death. I jumped out of the car to scoop him up before a car  hit him and  found a safe spot to place him out of harms way.

When I got back in the car I immediately thought of my dear Aunt whose body was also dying at that very moment from melanoma. (She passed away yesterday) Immediately, my mind went to the verse below and suddenly it made so much sense to me.

I believe in some small way I now understand what this verse means when it says that the whole creation has been groaning. I could see it in my Aunt’s body and also in this little bird.

I long for Christ’s return and I think often these days of what the earth will be like when it’s made new. No more death.. no more suffering… no more tears! What a glorious thought!

    Come quickly, Lord Jesus!

For we know that the whole creation has been groaning together in pains of childbirth until now. And not only the creation, but we ourselves, who have “the firstfruits of the Spirit, groan inwardly as” we wait eagerly for adoption as sons, the redemption of our bodies. Romans 8: 22-23

  • New bodies and new minds to understand the ways of God. We shall be like Him for we shall see Him as He is!! I think it will take all of eternity to know God…won’t that be awesome!

We groan now…yet we rejoice, knowing this old body is not forever. We’ll be OK!! Like Romans 5 says…we exult in the hope of the glory of God….and we exult in our earthly tribulations. One is just a lot harder than the other.

I am sorry about your aunt. My condolences to you and your family. Love you!

  • I’m so sorry for your loss. Isn’t it interesting that death teaches us so much about eternal things? I learned a lot when my grandma died after searching Scripture for the truth about physical death and glorification. It will be an awesome day when our Saviour returns!

  • Georgene, I too am so sorry about your aunt … I know you’ll miss her.

    *Hugs*

  • Hi Georgene,
I’m sorry you’ve been sad…yes we groan, I even hear it when I see the beautiful orchards being knocked down. I saw so many yesterday while I was out, it made me sad.

Has your husband had his surgery yet? I hope all else is going well for you. I never got over here to tell you, our family recipe for chicken and dumplings is just like yours! I love it. I don’t think I’ve made it in more than 10 years or so.

    God bless you…
    Sheri

  • Amen to that! Even so come quickly, Lord Jesus!
