God’s Word
I’m in LOVE with God’s Word!
Think about this for a minute… there is no other book on the face of this earth that can claim it is God’s actual words! God’s Word (the Bible) is the only book that is ALIVE! Imagine that for a moment. Think of the greatest book you’ve ever read! It was a mere man’s words… it had no life changing power to change your thinking or your motives or your life unless it had taken scriptures from the LIVING BOOK. There is no other book that has the power that God’s Word does.
I remember the first scripture that ever came ALIVE to me. An older Christian woman wrote it in a note concerning a trial I was going through. The scripture was Romans 8:28.
Rom 8:28 – And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose.
I can remember that day as if it were yesterday although it was nearly 28 years ago. I remember standing there, looking at the verse she had written, and suddenly it dawned on me (God’s Word illuminating itself to me) that God was speaking directly to me through those words. Those words had something to do with my life TODAY. My trial didn’t change but the words written on that paper had their perfect work in me and I had peace for the first time in a very long, long time. It was one of those life-changing moments.
God’s Word..
* equips us to do good works (2 Tim. 3:17)
* teaches us (2 Tim. 3:16)
* reproves us (2 Tim. 3:16)
* corrects us (2 Tim. 3:16)
* trains us (2 Tim. 3:16)
* discerns our thoughts (Heb. 4:12)
* discerns our intentions (Heb. 4:12)
* helps us not sin against God. (Ps. 119:11)
* strengthens us in times of sorrow (Ps. 119:38)
* makes a simple person wise (Ps. 119:7)
* brings conviction (1 Thess. 1:5)
Oh, my! The list of what God’s Word does in our lives goes on and on!How I thank God for His Word to me!
Nina over at Ninasblog shared a great link that offers a FUN and EASY way to memorize God’s Word. It is sent in your email every day. Check it out http://www.biblememory.us
This would be GREAT for homeschoolers, too! I signed up and I’m loving it! Let me know what you think. If you’ve had a hard time memorizing Scripture or feel like you don’t have time then I think this would be your answer.
1 Thess 2:13 - And we also thank God constantly for this, that when you received the word of God, which you heard from us, you accepted it not as the word of men but as what it really is, the word of God, which is at work in you believers.
2 Tim 3:16-17 – All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, 17 that the man of God may be competent, equipped for every good work.
Heb 4:12 – For the word of God is living and active, sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing to the division of soul and of spirit, of joints and of marrow, and discerning the thoughts and intentions of the heart.

We have it all…His word..His presence…and we still come up needy. In our humanness our need keeps us glued to HIM.
What a wonderful post. Thanks for sharing. God’s Word is truly alive and powerful enough to make our hearts of stone into hearts of flesh. I’m so thankful for it, aren’t you?
Thank you for the thoughts you shared on my site. I do not quite know what to think of forgiveness being a long or short process. I’ll have to see what the Scriptures say about it. The 70 x7 scenario seems to suggest it could be a long process – something we have to do over and over. That’s actually the way I’ve experienced it but I dont’ know if that’s because I’m one that harbors stuff way down deep and want to never let go of that grudge or of that’s the way most people are and that’s the reason Jesus mentioned that number. I’m not sure if there’s a pat answer to this. Some cases are instant, I’m sure, while others come and go. But nevertheless, I am so thankful that Jesus makes it possible for us to forgive those who have ‘trespassed against us.” On my own I would never do that. Wouldnt’ even want to.
Yes, I do have a stereo that plays both CD’s and cassettes. Just got it at a yard sale a few weeks ago. I did get some audio books this past week but only enjoyed the one, whihc was Mere Christianity by C.S. Lewis. It’s hard to find really good audio books at the library. But that does help a lot to fill the long, silent hours when my mind otherwise goes in circles. I know exactly what you mean about your mind going in all directions but the right one while mowing the yard. Mine does the same thing. I’ve taken index cards with me already to memorize scrips or poems while mowing. I can keep them in my shirt pocket while driving but pull them out when not needing to keep my hands on the wheel – like when I’m in a long straight section. Tha’s a good time to get some good, wholesome material into your mind.
Hi Georgene, yes I am sooo excited! To be a full-time grandma for 1 month is just a great gift from the Lord. I am going to Dayton, Ohio where my 2 daughters live. I will be able to visit my son in Columbia, South Carolina also.
