Do you promote peace in your home?
(This is taken from Nancy Leigh DeMoss’s 30 Day Encouragement Challenge. http://reviveourhearts.com/challenge/ )
“Seek peace, and pursue it.” (Psalm 34:14b)
“You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” (Isaiah 26:3)
Before you consider whether these verses describe your husband, consider your own presence in the home. Do you promote an atmosphere of peace, or do critical words often flow from your mouth? Do you struggle with anger? If so, before you continue with this challenge, confess these sinful habits to the Lord, and determine to speak words of peace to your family today.
Does your husband bring an atmosphere of peace into your home? Is his presence a calming influence? Does he bring music, entertainment, books, or people into your home that build a sense of serenity? Let him know how much you appreciate this wonderful quality, and support his choices.
If, on the other hand, he is quickly angered or he creates chaos rather than calm, ask God to give you an abundance of the kind of peace that will speak to his heart. Be patient and loving. Create an inviting atmosphere of peace, as much as possible.

good words. His peace is such a blessing and at the sametime, our minds are at the right/blessed place where we can inturn be a blessing. Is this challenge on the radio, book, ??? Sounds good enough to look in to.
Those are great words to think about. I have been praying lately for a gentle and quiet spirit because I tend to vent my opinion, wanting it to be the rule, and all it does is cause friction. Its getting better although i slip at times, and the Lord is quick to remind me that I goofed!
Great thoughts for today! I needed to hear that!
Thank you for sharing these thoughts. Peace. What a blessing! Thanks to you I’m getting the 30-days encouraagement devotionals now too.
Thanks for sharing – I’m going to do this and am asking friends to join me!
i soooo needed this! thank you.
Thanks for taking the time to help me out with my homework. We were really supposed to contact others within the church and ask the questions to them but being the new pastor’s wife of only a little over 2 months I decided to pose it to my Christian xanga friends instead. I wasn’t sure how the questions would be received or perceived coming from the new pastor’s wife. No, I didn’t have to pay for the course. It is something my husband felt would be worthy for the church body to do in place of our Wednesday night Bible study for the next 8 weeks, so the church picked up the tab.
I have noticed you are a big Nancy Leigh DeMoss follower. I enjoy also listening and learning from her. I recently enjoyed “Walking Through Life’s Deserts.” I am currently also working through “Getting Through the Tough Stuff” by Chuck Swindoll. It seems with all the trials of life I have endured this is the area of ministry where God uses me the most, helping others weather the storms of life.
Have a blessed day!
My husband does,I will indeed thank him!!
