  • Do you dress sexy?

I Jn 3:16 -We know love by this, that He laid down His life for us; and we ought to lay down our lives for the brethren.

The Christian life consists of dying to self ….. my life for yours! But, how often do we think of this principle when we dress ourselves each morning?

Try to think of it this way…. if God commands a man to not lust after a woman then a Christian woman has a responsibility to dress in a way that will not tempt him to break that command. This is true biblical love. My life for yours!

Matt 5:27-28 - ”You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall not commit adultery’;  but I say to you, that everyone who looks on a woman to lust for her has committed adultery with her already in his heart.

Can a godly woman say that she is fulfilling God’s command to love others when she dresses in a way that tempts a man to lust after her?  What are the thoughts she is hoping will come from the men that see her? Is she wanting them to think she is godly woman who lives for God? Is she wanting to help them live a holy life? Or has she given in to the world’s way of thinking  that seeks to attract a man by looking sensual? Which attitude display a godly motive before a holy God?

The second greatest command is to love our neighbor as we already love ourselves. Mt. 22:39

Let’s make a commitment to show our biblical love for men by dressing in a way that helps them obey God’s commands to not lust after a woman.

  • Grerat thoughts! And put together very nicely! I truly believe we have more of a responsibility in all this than we even realize, so many times!

  • YOu are so right. Has anyone ever told you that you have a gift of encouragement? You certainly have a way with Scriptures and words. Thanks for lifting us up.

RYC: Thanks, too, for the references you gave at my post yesterday about the basic truth concerning our faith. I know where you’re coming from and all of the scriptures that you posted are very good, although I think we’re sort of thinking two different things. I agree that God draws us to Himself first, and that none of us can say because I believe this or that about God I am one of His children. No, we can have lots of head knowledge but nothing in the heart. God must work the work in us. Jesus said, “You go through all the motions of worship but your heart is far from me.” But what I was thinking of is that the very basic truth that we must embrace, actually cherish, is that God is the Creator of the universe, which makes Him in control of my world today – right now – inside of me -outside of me – in my home, in my community, in my world. In Iraq, in Honduras, in the Oval Office, in Idaho, in Mississippi, on the Rhine, among the natives of Zimbabwe, just everywhere and in everything. He is the Creator. He is in control. He is all-wise, all-powerful, all-loving and everything else that He is. Because ALL things come from HIM, He is in control. That may not be as you see it, but it’s the way I came to faith and from what I read of the Scriptures, especially in Isaiah chapters 43 - 45, I believe we need to cherish that truth. It just may be why it’s the very first verse in the Bible, because when we don’t believe the first verse, it’s hard to believe anything else; especially the last one. “Even so come Lord Jesus.”

I value your beliefs and  would love more discussion.

  • Absolutely correct. Thanks for sharing.  Jenn

  • Thank you for your refreshing post. I have two daughters that I drive the “holiness” point home to on a daily basis.  The worldly clothing, styles and form fitting clothes that have found themselves welcomed in our churches (of all places) just really beats all doesn’t it? It’s great to hear others saying things about this….thanks so much.

  • Have you noticed how really difficult it is to shop these days? Almost nothing modest on the racks at all!

  • RYC-We would hope to do Ladies’ Day once a month. More realisticly it will probably happen 3-4 times a year. You never know tho….maybe every other month. We are spread out over 2+ hours, driving distance. If we were closer, it would be easier. Another thing we used to do was make a meal for each other. One week, I’d make enough of whatever I was making and make extra and take it to my sis and mom. Then they’d take their turns the following weeks. That was always fun. But we moved! So that doesn’t happen anymore.
