  • It was so fun reading all of your posts on how you save money in your home. Thank you.

    The greatest thing I’m discovering about ’living below my means’ is that it is so much FUN! I enjoy finding ways to save money and stretch a penny MUCH MORE than buying everything I want. Frankly, the ‘want list’ never runs out. There is always something MORE I think I HAVE to have. The more I have, the less I enjoy it. It reminds me of snacking all day and then being full for dinner.

    Living frugally brings out a sense of creativeness. I enjoy thinking of ways to make do with what I have on hand rather than buying something new. It feels good.  Maybe it’s the biblical principle that when you do right your emotions will follow. (Gen. 4:7) I just find so much more pleasure in getting by with less than giving in to every desire of my flesh.

  • RYC-I’m using a variation of a schedule from a lady in Cat’s group. When I was looking at household books I saw this idea that I’m using. I just tweeked it to fit me.

  • I am sorry I missed commenting on your earlier post…Yes, it is great fun to save money and I believe it honors our Lord! I will have to go back and read all of the comments…With much love and many prayers, Paula

  • Hi there – good post!  You know my husband is pretty successful in his career and he’s been able to provide us with a very “comfortable” lifestyle.  But now that we have the big house (had it for past 8 years), we are only in our 40s and are feeling led to “downsize” and to get rid of alot of our “stuff”.  So true that the more you own, the more it owns you.  We will be moving the end of this year when our smaller house is done being built and we’ll have less responsibilities along with it.  I’m looking forward to it, cos I know God wants us freer to travel in ministry, not being tied down to a big house with all it’s responsibility.

    God bless you!

  • hmmm…  I use paper towels twice. When I use them to wipe up a water spill or dry my clean hands, I figure they are still good for another go-round or two. =)    And- probably everyone knows that making out a menu and shopping from it can save scads of moolah each week.

  • I’ve tried to live below my means all my life. Only in an extreme emergency do I even think about using a credit card. You have to have one when you get airline tickets over the internet, but pay it off the next month.

    Have a blessed week & God keep you safe, healthy & happy. HUGS

  • Many of us have become, “Keepers of the Stuff”, instead of “Keepers of the Faith”.   Living the “Simple Life”, I think, would make everything easier in the long run.  The less you have, the less you have to maintain.  Makes sense, doesn’t it?

  • We played a homemade board game using marbles – something like Parcheesi.

  • Thanks for bringing this to my attention. I needed to realize that cutting back and doing without the many things we are accustomed to isn’t so bad after all. You make it sound so neat and fun and even godly. (Everytime we have a cancer patient in the house we get poor. ha.)

  • …like john 3:30 says: “less is more”

    :o )

    may His love surround you today!

    ::peace and joy::
