Goals for the older women!
Titus 2:3-5: (v3)Older women likewise are to be reverent in their behavior, not malicious gossips, nor enslaved to much wine, teaching what is good, (v4)THAT they may encourage the young women to love their husbands, to love their children, (v.5) sensible, pure, workers at home, kind, being subject to their own husbands, that the word of God may not be dishonored.
I can’t even begin to imagine how many times I have read this verse, studied it, examined it, researched it and tried to apply it. Yet, today was the first time my eyes really settled on the word “THAT”.
“THAT” is a purpose clause which points to the REASON for the “conditions” listed in verse 3.
So, the reason we (the older women) are to be reverent in the way we live, not slanders or addicted to much wine , teachers of what is good and right is SO THAT we can teach the younger women.
Older women need to examine their lives by this list before they take on the task of teaching younger women.

Good word, my sister in Christ! Blessings upon you and yours, Paula
RYC-Yes I used fresh pears.
THAT is soooo good! I have never thought of that word THAT either. It brings out a whole new lesson. Thanks for sharing it.
Amen to that. We have to watch how we live our lives before we try to “teach” anyone. We first have to be right with the Lord before we tell anyone how they have to get right with the Lord.
RYC: Thanks for the compliment. I’ve been sewing for 57 years. I started when I was 14 making my own clothes. I don’t sew for myself much anymore, its more fun sewing for the little ones.
Have a blessed week & God keep you safe, healthy & happy. HUGS
It’s hard to believe that we’re the ones teaching the younger, isn’t it? A few weeks ago, I was exclaiming of how I just can’t seem to get enough done and that life seems to be spinning. Our 10-year old daughter said in all seriousness, “Mom, you are over 40 now. They do say that 40 is over the hill and it would make sense that it does faster down the hill…..” LOL Oh my – what they don’t come up with. ~smile~
Great thought. God bless ~E
RYC-I got nuts, cheese, whole grain hamburger buns, brown basmatic rice and brown rice that is cooked and frozen, dried fruits (not low carb, but ok in small amounts), all fruit spread, beans, chili. No candy or desserts if that is what you were thinking. I looked for sugar free candy and couldn’t find any. At the cash register she told me they have a small amount of it. They don’t have much low carb stuff, but they do have a lot of whole grain products and good prices on nuts so I loaded up.
Yes, she did write the once-a-month cookbook! As far as I know, she hasn’t written anything else. HOLY HABITS is an great book. Ahhhhhhhh, so many books, so little time! And so, I pick those which point me to our LORD. HAve a wonderful day in Jesus!!!!!! Paula
